Presented by Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas
City, comedy show to benefit
Gilda's Club Kansas City Aug. 23
Additional sponsors of Giggle With Gilda
2014 include American Century Investments and Lathrop and Gage.
The "two man group," Mochrie and
Sherwood, have emerged as two of America’s most popular comedic personalities.
The most recent concert DVD released by the Emmy-nominated Whose Line Is It Anyway? stars is the culmination of seven successful
years of touring theaters, colleges and corporate events across the country.
Using their razor-sharp wit and amazing improv skills, the duo takes
contributions from the audience to create hilarious and original scenes. An
extraordinary evening of improvisational comedy, the show becomes truly
interactive as audience members are called to the stage to participate in the
fun.
In addition to the comedy-improv, the show
will feature the gifted Kansas City entertainer, Missy Koonce, as emcee and legendary Kansas City musician Lonnie McFadden will perform with his
band, trumpet and signature tap dancing.
Kansas
City magician Todd Lamanske will
provide pre-show entertainment as guests arrive.
The extraordinary evening of entertainment
will benefit Gilda’s Club, a Kansas City cancer support community offering
support groups, educational opportunities, social events and workshops in a
home-like setting.
“With more than 60,000 people in the metro
area living with cancer, there is a tremendous need for the Gilda's Club
program in Kansas City,” said Penni Johnson, president
of Gilda’s Club Kansas City Board of Directors. “This event is such a great way
to connect with residents of Kansas City who are living with cancer and their
family and friends. When people laugh more, they worry less, and that is a very
encouraging thing for the tough times that our members are experiencing or have
experienced.”
Tickets are on sale now for $60 and $45. A
limited number of $200 VIP tickets are available and include access to the
private after-party with special guests, Mochrie and Sherwood. (A portion of
the VIP After-Party ticket is tax-deductible. Service and facility fees may
apply.) Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. All ticket
levels may be purchased through GildasClubKC.org.
All proceeds from Giggle with Gilda will
benefit Gilda’s Club Kansas City, which is an affiliate of The Cancer Support
Community. In 2012 Gilda’s Club KC officially opened its doors to become the 55
North American affiliate with the mission of ensuring that all people impacted
by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by
community. Located at 21 W. 43rd Street in Kansas City, Mo., just
northeast of the Country Club Plaza, Gilda’s Club offers social and emotional
support to all people — men, women, teens, and children — living with ANY
cancer, along with their families and friends, as a critical complement to
their medical care. The program is always offered free of charge and the core
components include support, education, healthy lifestyles, social connections,
resources and referral.
