World Tai Chi

A global event started in Kansas City 14 years ago, proclaimed by Mayor of KC

Free Tai Chi & Qigong teach-in, and opportunity to "breathe with the world" at 10 am.

14 years ago a group of about 200 people spread across the south lawn of the Nelson Atkins Museum (47th & Oak) to educated KC about the health benefits of these ancient arts.

Since then Harvard Health Publications called tai chi "medication in motion" for all the myriad health benefits it provides, and the recently released Harvard Medical School Guide to Tai Chi cited the work of local KC area resident Bill Douglas for founding the global event World Tai Chi & Qigong Day.

NEXT SATURDAY, APRIL 27TH, AT 9:30 AM LOCAL TIME, THE SOUTH LAWN OF THE NELSON ATKINS MUSEUM, THE BIRTHPLACE OF THIS GLOBAL EVENT, WILL AGAIN FILL WITH TAI CHI PLAYERS.

Between the shuttle cocks people will gather to be part of a worldwide wave of healing intent, this event's motto is "One World ... One Breath."

Local KC area organizers have also created a website where people worldwide can find participating events to attend that day in over 70 nations. www.worldtaichiday.org.

The KC area founders of this now global event will be part of a wave of mass tai chi and qigong exhibitions that will include massive events joining in Hong Kong, New York City, Los Angeles, Puerto Rico, Havana Cuba, Brasilia Brazil.

Since KC area resident, Bill Douglas and his wife Angela Wong Douglas, co-authors of the best selling "The Complete Idiot's Guide to T'ai Chi & QiGong" (Penguin/Alpha, New York, 4th edition), founded this event, it has been officially proclaimed by 22 US states governors, the Senates of California, New York and Puerto Rico.

In the last month the President of Croatia's office recognized World Tai Chi & Qigong Day, and the National Assembly of Brazil held an event in their National Chamber in honor of this event.
