Cinco de Mayo, the 5th of May, started as a
Mexican holiday commemorating the 1862 Battle of Puebla. Contrary to
popular notion, it is not Mexico’s Independence Day. North of the border,
we have adopted it as a day to celebrate all things Mexican with music, food
and dancing. Here is what some of the local restaurants have planned:
Margarita's is
celebrating 28 years of Cinco de Mayo by offering food and drink specials on
Sunday. Enjoy live music on the patio in Gladstone. Olé!
Check
out Guadalajara Café and Ixtapa celebrating all weekend
long from Friday to Sunday with margarita and import beer specials.
Join Mestizo for food, drink and entertainment during this multi-day fiesta! The events commence with a tequila tasting private dinner with Aaron Sanchez on May 2. Disco Dick and the Mirrorballs will entertain diners from 7-10pm on Saturday at Park Place Barkley Square while Mestizo will be offering food and drink specials. On Sunday, May 5 bring out the family for a special Cinco de Mayo Brunch with kids’ piñatas opened every hour on the hour from 10am to 2pm. Call 913-752-9025 for your reservations.
Frida’s ContemporaryMexican Cuisine will start Friday with special drinks, appetizers and great food running through Sunday.
