Take
Action Against Hunger in September
Help
fight hunger during Hunger Acton Month and make a difference in someone’s
life.
KANSAS
CITY, Mo. –Harvesters—The Community Food Network is joining food banks across
the nation in calling on everyone to take action during September to help feed
the hungry. Whether it be volunteering on September
11 as part of a National Day of Service, donating perishable food
items for this week’s Fill
the Fridge food drive or wearing orange on Thursday, September 6
for Go
Orange for Hunger Day, Harvesters encourages everyone to find a way to
help in the fight against hunger.
“When we provide food
to someone who is hungry, we’re providing more than a meal,” said Harvesters
President and CEO Karen Haren. “We’re also helping build healthier communities.
During Hunger Action Month, we call on everyone to join our mission to feed the
hungry. Our community’s generous support through gifts of food, time, money and
voice makes it possible for Harvesters to continue providing food to one in
eight people in our region.”
Hunger strikes homes
in rural areas, suburbs and cities. Feeding America’s national Map
the Meal Gap study shows hunger is everywhere, and one in five children in
Harvesters’ 26-county service area are food insecure–meaning their families may
not know where the next meal is coming from.

in 30 Days” campaign. Visit www.harvesters.org
